The Poor should benefit from Free SHS; AIG Ghana CEO
Chief Executive Officer of Africa Investment Group(AIG) and economist, Sam Ankrah, made known his take on the Free SHS policy by the NPP government.
He believes parents of wards must be means-tested in order to access free SHS, and they must present their case with a simple account of income and spending.
He also questions the sustainability of the free SHS programme considering bases of cost and infrastructure.
He believes that the government needs to review the policy using the Ghana Revenue Authority’s TIN and tax clearance certificates of guardians of prospective beneficiaries in order to better establish a threshold.
