Teacher, nursing trainees’ allowances to be paid by CAGD – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama announced on Saturday, 22nd March, that the government would begin to pay the teacher and nursing trainees’ allowances through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
President Mahama said that this is going to ensure that the allowances are paid continuously to the students, just like the CAGD paid salaries to government workers. He express that this will get rid of the delays related with the payment of the allowances to the beneficiary students.
President Mahama made the declaration when he delivered a speech at a forum at the Jubilee Park in Tamale during his “Thank You Tour” of the Northern Region after his victory at the Presidential Elections in December.
President John Dramani Mahama prior to this, paid respect to Ya-Na Abukari II, Traditional Leader of Dagbon at the Gbewaa Palace as part of his Thank You Tour of the region.
President Mahama emphasized certain views of the outline activities in the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government, asserting allocation was made to supply free sanitary pads for girls in schools to keep them in school during their menstrual periods.
He also promised to complete the Eastern Corridor Road, among other projects, to establish a reliable and efficient transportation network across the country, and also promote sustainable development and connectivity for all citizens.
He showed appreciation to the people of the region for strongly approving the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December 2024. The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John, submitted a request to the President to take into consideration constructing a millitary facility at Yendi to amongst others address the ongoing dispute encountered across the Eastern Corridor of the country.
