GES revises school selection guidelines for 2021 SHS placement

The Ghana Education Service following the conduct of the 31st edition of BECE for School and SHS placement says it has reviewed the school selection guidelines of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
The Director-General of GES speaking at a press conference monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said his outfit soon will commence education and sensitization on the school selection guidelines or processes for BECE candidates.
“The 2021 Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) for School will start from Monday, November 15, 2021, and end Friday, November 19, 2021, but we have revised the CSSPS school selection guidelines,” he told the media.
According to Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) will from Monday, August 30, 2021, begin a pilot of the reviewed selection of schools guidelines until September 1, 2021.
The Director-General said the final year Junior High School (JHS) students candidates preparing to sit for this year’s BECE for School after the piloting will start the selection of their preferred Senior High School (SHSs) for placement.
“The Senior High School (SHS) selection sensitization and guidelines exercise will take place in all the respective Regional, District Education Directorate and Junior High Schools,” the Vice-Chairman of Council added.
GES ahead of last year’s school placement released Infographics, flyers and short videos in nine Ghanaian Languages about the process for the 2020 BECE candidates to better understand the SHS school selection exercise.

The GES Management also advised parents and guardians of the BECE for School candidates to take a keen interest in the selection of schools process to ensure a smooth Senior High School (SHS) placement of the candidates.
