Dr. Joseph Wemakor to Grace ‘Farmers Care Program’ in Somanya as Special Guest

All roads lead to Somanya this Friday, November 7, 2025, where Eminence Lead International will host a transformative workshop under the banner of the Farmers Care Program on the theme: “Sustainable Agriculture Business Practice for Robust Agriculture Development.”
Supported by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and Ghana COCOBOD, the event seeks to empower farmers with practical knowledge, resources, and policy insights that will enhance their livelihoods and ensure sustainability in Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
Among the distinguished personalities billed for the occasion is Dr. Joseph Kobla Wemakor, the Executive Director of Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG), who has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour.
Dr. Wemakor will deliver a key presentation on the topic “Understanding Land Rights and Laws as a Farmer.”
His session is expected to equip participants—especially smallholder farmers—with the knowledge to assert and protect their land rights while fostering responsible agricultural practices.
Empowering Farmers Through Knowledge and Rights As a passionate advocate for human rights, peace, and sustainable development, Dr. Wemakor’s involvement underscores the event’s commitment to ensuring that agricultural progress goes hand in hand with social justice, equitable land access, and human dignity.
For over a decade, Dr. Wemakor has worked tirelessly through HRRG to promote and protect the rights of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and marginalized rural communities.
His organization has led impactful campaigns on land dispossession, child labour in farming, climate adaptation, and responsible agribusiness—issues at the heart of Ghana’s rural transformation agenda.
Through his leadership, HRRG has collaborated with government institutions, farmer associations, and civil society organizations to create awareness and strengthen community resilience.
His advocacy has empowered countless local farmers and landowners to better understand their rights and to participate meaningfully in sustainable agricultural decision-making.
A Distinguished Advocate and International Voice Beyond Ghana, Dr. Wemakor is recognized globally for his thought leadership in human rights and sustainable development.
He has represented Ghana at major international platforms, including the United Nations High-Level Political Forum, the Pan-African Human Rights and Social Justice Conference, and the Africa Civil Society AML/CFT Conference 2025 in Botswana, among others.
His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, such as the UN Global Entreps Award, the Africa Peace Advocate Award (2023), and recognition as a finalist for the African Human Rights Defenders Shield Award (2023), among others.
Dr. Wemakor is also a respected journalist, peace ambassador, and development communicator whose works continue to inspire a new generation of changemakers committed to fairness, sustainability, and equality.
Event Highlights Other notable speakers at the event include Felix Kwame Appiah, Ph.D., Technical Manager (Operations) of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division of COCOBOD, and Mr. Nicholas Nikoi, Unit Head of Agromarketing and Sales at the Agricultural Development Bank. Both will share insights into strengthening agribusiness practices, financing, and technical support for farmers.
The Farmers Care Program is scheduled to take place at the YKMFA Conference Hall, Yilo Krobo Senior High School, Somanya, starting at 9:00 a.m.
The program promises to be a landmark engagement for stakeholders in the agriculture sector—bringing together farmers, development experts, and policymakers to advance the shared goal of building a robust and sustainable agricultural economy in Ghana.
