Transfer News: Liverpool In Direct Talks With Rodrygo Goes
Liverpool in direct talks with Rodrygo Goes after the Brazilian International merely had enough minutes in the Club World Cup with Real Madrid.
With Real Madrid preparing to resume training in less than two weeks, one of the most pressing unanswered questions is Rodrygo Goes’ future.
The Brazilian international does not look to have a future at the Santiago Bernabéu, given his limited role in the final stages of the 2024/25 season.
Xabi Alonso seldom used the 24-year-old forward during the FIFA Club World Cup, and it appears that other players are ahead of the former Santos wonder kid in the pecking order.
Arsenal, for example, expressed considerable interest in Rodrygo but appear to have moved on from him. However, Liverpool, their Premier League opponent, has surfaced as a potential suitor for the Real Madrid star.
Following suggestions that Liverpool are interested in signing Rodrygo, journalist Santi Aouna writes that the club has made direct contact with the player’s team.
Liverpool has been one of the most active teams in the summer transfer window, making several high-profile signings, including former Real Madrid target Florian Wirtz.
However, with Luis Diaz expected to leave for Bayern Munich, the Reds are looking for replacements for the Colombian international and appear to have narrowed in on Rodrygo.
According to the update, direct talks have already occurred between Liverpool and Rodrygo’s entourage, although there have been no negotiations between the two clubs.
Nevertheless, the Merseyside heavyweights’ interest in the Brazilian international appears to be increasing.
Real Madrid, for their part, would be willing to part ways with Rodrygo if the player requested to leave and they received a satisfactory offer.
So far, reports suggest that Los Blancos will demand at least €100 million for their Brazilian attacker. Given that Liverpool has already spent considerably this summer, it remains to be seen whether they are willing to spend much on Rodrygo as well.
