The Minister of Foreign Affairs together with the government have placed measures to help Ghanaian abroad with their passport

The Minister for Foreign affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed that passport applications declined by 20, 000 within a year following a fee increase introduced by the previous administration.
During an attended Community engagement held at Ghana’s consulate – General, members of the Ghanaian diaspora voice strong concerns over the high cost of acquiring passports. After careful consideration, the Minister assured that measures will be taken to review and drastically decrease passport fee for Ghanaians residing abroad.
Mr. Samuel explained that the government is recently undertaking a wide view of the fees and charges act as well as promised to issue raised by the diaspora will be taken into consideration. In addition, he highlighted the administration commitment to easing bureaucracy and financial burdens on Ghanaian everywhere.
He disclosed plans to collaborate with the National Identification Authority to begin registering Ghanaians abroad. In updating the public on government decision,Mr. Samuel reaffirm key reforms including the Electronic Transfer Levy, betting tax and the emission tax.
