The President, John Dramani Mahama cautions the youth to avoid inappropriate actions during the celebration of the Eid-ul-fitr

Ramadan is a period of togetherness, deep reflection and sacrifice where Muslims come together to reunite. It is also a period to restore hope and dignity. During this period, Muslims show love to their neighbours, friends and family. But it is unfortunate that the youth overuse these opportunity and rather cause inappropriate actions.This made the President of Ghana to warn them upon his visit. he stated, urging young people to celebrate responsibly and avoid putting themselves and others at risk.
His excellency John Dramani Mahama joined the Muslims to celebrate the Eid-ul-fitr. This was organised by the National Chief Imam at the Independence Square in Accra. He used this opportunity to emphasise on the causes and consequences of loss of lifes. His excellency also warned the youth to avoid drinking and driving. The President noted that Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of unity and joy and should not be overshadowed by reckless actions that endanger lives.With careful actions, President Mahama announced that he had directed the police to be vigilant and take action against offenders. “Since time immemorrial , it is obvious that needless loss of lives are as a result of reckless riding of motorbikes and vehicles which is mostly associated with the Ramadan celebration. I urge our brothers who engage in this to stop,” he cautioned. Most youth see the occasion to be an opportunity to have fun. In doing these, they end up losing their lifes and other’s lifes. Putting all into consideration, the president has cautioned the youth to be careful as well as vigilant. This was because he had assigned the police to take immediate actions to victims who flout that statement. This has reminded the youth to be cautious of themselves and to prioritise safety first.
